Welcome to Our Kennel!

My name is Rachel,  I was raised in California until 2022 when I moved up to Salem, OR and called it home.

I fell in love with Goldens when I was very young, and knew I wanted to play a part in the preserving of this breed. When I was 13 years old, I started doing research and learning all I could about what it takes to be a responsible breeder, and to this day, the learning has not stopped.

In July of 2021, I was able to get my first ever Golden Retriever from Elizabeth & Michael Keck at Once Upon A Dream Kennels in Idaho. I refer to Ryder as my gateway dog, since we are both embarking on this journey of show and sports together.
Ryder will be the matriarch of Swiftly Golden Retrievers.

My goal is to help preserve genetic diversity, longevity, and versatility in the Golden Retriever breed, producing dogs that can excel in all venues.

I currently serving as the Secretary of the Pacific Rim Golden Retriever Club of Oregon (PRGRCO), as well as a member in good standing of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) and the Silver Falls Kennel Club.

About

Our Breed

The Golden Retriever is a medium-sized breed in the Sporting Group, with males standing at 23-24in tall at the withers, weighing 65-75lbs; females are 21.5-22.5in tall, weighing 55-65lbs. Golden Retrievers were developed as a "gentleman's hunting dog" in Scotland in the 1800's and officially recognized by the AKC in 1925. Many today are still used as hunting dogs, as well as Service Dogs, Obedience, Search and Rescue, and, of course, a beloved family pet.

What is an

Ethical Breeder?

Ethical breeders make sure their dogs are fully health tested, proven worthy of being bred by means of show, sport, work, or any combination of the three. All puppies will be sold on contract stating their first right of refusal, and puppies will be microchipped with the breeder's contact information permanently listed as an alternate. They are very interested in who they select to be the new owners of any puppies they produce, and want to keep up with how everybody is  doing! Their relationship with you will not simply be transactional. If somebody claims they are an ethical breeder but fail to do ANY of the above things, they are NOT an ethical breeder.

The Importance of

Ethical Breeding

When searching for a new companion, most people want a dog who will be predictable in terms of temperament, trainability, grooming needs, etc. Ethical breeders carefully select the parents of the puppies they produce, so that the puppy you bring home will be everything you are hoping for and more, setting both you and your puppy on a path to success with sound physical, mental, and behavioral health. Contrary to popular belief, ethical breeders also do NOT contribute to the shelter population. They will take back any puppy they produce in a heartbeat, and if a dog produced by them does end up in a shelter, ethical breeders will move heaven and earth to make sure their dog does not stay there.
